Gorman began his senior career with Newbridge Town before moving up to senior football in 2002 with newly founded club Kildare County who were under the management of Dermot Keely. Gorman became the first ever player to score for The Thoroughbreds when he netted against Limerick in July 2002 when the two teams met in the First Division Cup. After two seasons at Station Road, Gorman went on to have spells at Kilkenny City in 2004[1] and at the now defunct Dublin City in 2005.
Following a year out of the game due to a call up by the Irish Army for United Nations duty, John Ryan brought the Brownstown local back to Kildare County in June 2006.[2] He was just what the goal shy Kildare County needed at the time. His goals helped to halt the downward spiral that the team were trapped in during the 2006 season hitting 7 league goals.[3] During his second spell at County, Gorman has represented Ireland's Military football team when they competed for the first time to qualify for the 2007 Military World Games held in Hyderabad, India.[4] Gorman continued his good form into the 2007 season hitting 13 league goals resulting in the striker been voted Kildare County's player of the year for that season.[5] Gorman's fine form in 2007 resulted in him being appointed Kildare County's club captain for the 2008 season following the departure of previous club captain Philip Byrne to the latest League of Ireland franchise Sporting Fingal.[6] In 2008, Gorman hit 4 goals for a struggling County side situated at the foot of the First Division table before his departure to First Division title chasers Shelbourne in July 2008 where he reunited with his former manager at Kildare, Dermot Keely.
Gorman made his Shelbourne debut as a second-half substitute during a 2-0 defeat to Monaghan United at Century Homes Park on July 29, 2008.[7] He scored his first Shelbourne goal against his previous club Kildare County at Tolka Park on September 25, 2008 during a 3-1 victory for the Reds.[8] Gorman departed Shelbourne at the end of the 2008 season as he was due to undertake military duty abroad but following his return home to Ireland he rejoined Shelbourne on 3 February 2010 for their 2010 First Division campaign.[9] Gorman held down a regular spot for Shelbourne during 2010 scoring 7 goals in 29 competitive appearances. He also won a Leinster Senior Cup medal that season.
Following time taken out of the game due to injury, Gorman re-signed for Shelbourne for a third spell on 12 August 2011.[10]
